ABSTRACT
Freya’s abstract works are often informed by landscapes and natural spaces.
They elicit the experience of being immersed within the climate or atmosphere of a place.
The paintings are made using acrylic paint and oil pastels, at times combined with natural materials like dirt, ochre or charcoal rubbed from burnt trees on-site. At times Freya works on raw canvas or repurposed cotton, allowing her paint to soak into the fabric.
